The work invites a reflection on prejudice, understood as the product of the cultural and political conditionings, linked to the geographical belonging of "the others". A thought that fits in dramatic fashion in the research of the artist, who acts in and around the complex relationships among South Asian countries, with particular attention to their political and geographical boundaries, and the construction of their identities. Installed here, facing the Mediterranean, between new migrations and conflicts, the work acquires a further level of reading. The composing and decomposing letters, between illegibility and clarity, orientation and disorientation, suggest a sense of circularity and reciprocity. In its infinite loop, almost like a warning, a truism or a koan, MY EAST IS YOUR WEST triggers a reflection on the malleability and the constant shift of our perceptions of border and frontier.
